Flutterwave announces Google Pay as one of its payment options.
The Flutterwave and Google Pay partnership has been in development since February 2022, when Flutterwave first declared its intent to add Google Pay to its payment method.
Finally, customers can now use Google Pay to pay in stores owned by Flutterwave.
Recent events have attested that Flutterwave intends to improve the quality of customer experience.
Earlier in the month, they announced the integration of e-Naira, Nigeria’s digital currency, into their platform. The purpose is to allow merchants and buyers to use it for cryptocurrency transactions.
Flutterwave and Google Pay collaboration means the latter will join other payment methods like Barter, bank transfers, and card transactions on the Flutterwave platform.
With this partnership, customers will have a convenient checkout experience.
About Google Pay
Google Pay is a mobile payment service developed by Google for in-app, online, and in-person purchases. It enables users to make payments with Android phones, tablets, watches and other devices.
Using Google Pay, users can make payments easily through their phones instead of debit or credit cards.
It also provides customers with a simple, safe and contactless payment method.
What this means is when customers add their card details to Google Wallet, they can make payments on the web and through apps.
Android users in over 42 countries use Google Pay as a popular payment method in Africa. Therefore, customers around the globe can use it to conduct transactions on Flutterwave successfully.
Google Pay is said to increase the speed of Flutterwave’s transaction to three minutes which reduces the customer’s cart abandonment rate.
Using Google Pay on Flutterwave
This new feature is available to anyone who is registered on Flutterwave as a merchant. When they log in to their Flutterwave account, the Account setting under Dashboard contains the payment methods.
By enabling Dashboard payment, a list of payment methods will appear. One of these will be to show Google Pay as a payment option.
Meanwhile, Users who have Google Pay on their devices can find an option that says Pay with Google Pay on the Flutterwave checkout page.
By clicking it and following the prompt, it will redirect them to their Google Pay accounts to complete the payment.
In a statement on their website, Flutterwave said a 3.8% fee is fixed on all transactions, while merchants will receive settlements in their bank accounts.
The founder of Flutterwave. Olugbenga Agboola stated that the continued growth of Flutterwave is because of its devotion to creating a platform with simplified payments for customers. The Google Pay payment method will draw in more international customers and boost the current success rates for merchants on Flutterwave.
Currently, there are about 30,000 merchants with businesses on Flutterwave.
Flutterwave hopes that this recent addition helps fulfil its promise of building endless possibilities for its merchants.
