Nigerian singer, Oladipo Emmanuel, popularly known as Chinko Ekun, recently shared the touching story of how he became homeless and depressed in 2020.

He shared his testimony in a video shared by the pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), Bolaji Idowu, via his Instagram account on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Chinko Ekun, who was signed to Olamide’s YBNL record label, stated that he lost his record deal in 2020 and he became homeless and had to squat with former David Adeleke (Davido) for Personal Assistant (PA), Busari Idris Seun, popularly known as Aloma.

In his words: “I had one of the biggest records (Able God), going for shows, everything was just sweet. Before you wake up they’ve booked you, to go to political shows. They were paying me to do what I love. There was a lot of money, ‘I chop money.

“Skip to 2020, I lost my record deal, and I had an issue with my record label boss. He was so mad and said that I should leave the house. I became homeless.”

“I am the type of gentle guy, I don’t come to the Internet and talk. I couldn’t stay where I was and had to come to the island to squat with Aloma.

“I had one relationship then; the breakfast was so hot that I landed in the hospital.

“Everything that mattered to me was crumbling down.

“One day I woke up around 6. a.m. and considered jumping inside Elegushi beach because I am not used to begging anybody for things, I just like to do my own thing. Then I said in the beach

‘God, all my life I never bowed to another god, and I started threatening God and said He should take the blame if I bow to other gods.

“In like three months, I got some royalties, I was able to record some new songs. I got two endorsement deals from some companies, then I started getting some shows till I was able to get my new apartment and some properties.”

One thing I promised myself was that the car YBN took from me, once I get the money I would buy the car, and to the Glory of God, I am driving the car now.”
