The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says the Osun State governorship election dispute has taught the Commission to transmit the accreditation details along with the election results to its IReV, INEC Results Viewing Centres.
The INEC Director for Voter Education, Victor Aluko disclosed this while fielding questions on Arise Television’s News programme on Sunday.
“The truth is, without prejudice to the legal issues in Osun, BVAS did not fail in Osun. BVAS did what it was supposed to do, to accredit voters.
“But we have learnt our lessons from that, and we’ve moved on, and one of the lessons we learnt is that we must transmit the accreditation details along with the election results to our IReV, INEC Results Viewing Centres,” Aluko said.
He further said that during the mock accreditation, the Commission was able to try it.
“We created a new URL in our IReV, and we transmitted the accreditation details along with the results to the IReV portal, which is important. That’s the lesson we have learnt,” he said.
While urging Nigerians not to worry about the forthcoming elections, Aluko assured that there wouldn’t be any problem with BVAS during the general elections because the Commission had done all that was to be done.
