Col 3:17 And everything, whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus…
The Word of God enjoins us to do everything we do in the Name of the Lord Jesus.
But what does this mean?
It means to base all we do on a recognition of Jesus’ love for us, and as a response to that love. It means to do everything out of a need to share and to show His love to others in the world. It means to do everything out of a recognition of the truth of His Word, and His help and power in our lives.. It means to do everything out of obedience to the Master.
Doing all we do in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ is actually not talking about what we do only, but about why we do what we do, hallelujah.
We could go to work like everybody else, but why do we go to work? We could be running a business like so many, but why do we run a business?
We could be pushing to get paid at what we do, but why do we need this? Is it out of a need to have provision to help ourselves fulfill His will and purpose for our lives, or because we just want as much as we can get for our own selves alone? Is it to have more to help the spread of His Gospel, or just because we feel people are looking down on us, and we want to get cash to look good?
Why do we want a car? Is it to manifest His glory, just like His Word says, or so that people would greet us better?
Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking good, but let us do it because we want to obey the will of the Father to shine in glory for Him, and not just out of personal pride.
Let’s ask ourselves today, why are we doing what we are doing? Is it out of love for our Father and genuine compassion for our fellow man, or just a desire to get more things for ourselves?
CONFESSION
I am filled with a great love for Jesus, and those He died for. I am full of strength and prosperity, and I am using it for the Gospel of the Lord Jesus. I am full of fire for the Word and the will of my Father, and I am winning for Him on the earth, in Jesus Mighty Name.
MORE LIGHT (MEDITATE ON, AND PRAY WITH THESE)
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 Since we believe that Christ died for all of us, we should also believe that we have died to the old life we used to live. He died for all so that all who live—having received eternal life from him—might live no longer for themselves, to please themselves, but to spend their lives pleasing Christ who died and rose again for them.
Mt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
1 John 3:16 ESV By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
